Welcome to michaelanthonygoodman.com, home of a guy with a long name, a greying beard, and a huge desire to get goosebumps at really cool, awesome, and beautiful moments. I write, I travel, I find adventure in human connection.
Over twenty years ago, my third-grade teacher wrote in bold letters across the chalk board, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” As a classroom of eight and nine year olds, my peers began shouting out their dreams: a fireman, a teacher, a nurse, a doctor, a mommy. I interrupted with a roar, “I’m going to change the world.” This outburst remains lucid to me, as the feedback thereafter challenged me to actually follow through. “There is no career in, ‘changing the world,’” they said, and after two decades of phenomenal life experiences and quality educational moments, I am finding this unconventional approach to be just the very way I will, in fact, change the world.
With each day, the eight-year old version of myself is feeling more and more affirmed that changing the world is not solely curing AIDS or raising millions of dollars for the arts (though, both are nice, and we should keep striving to change the world in these capacities): changing the world is subjective, and can be done via each lived moment, one day at a time. Dreamers, believers in good, vagabonds, wanderers wandering, free-spirits, seekers of goosebumps, quality citizens, and community engagers: this site is for you. March on, unapologetically.
